Top Ten Best Selling Cars for 1Q of 2014
The numbers have been announced for the Philippines’ automotive sales for the first quarter of 2014. Early favorites for the best selling cars for this year are also last year’s top finishers- the seven years consecutive leader Toyota Vios, the sporty and elegant SUV Mitsubishi Montero Sport and the mid size SUV Toyota Fortuner.
While some countries are shifting to more fuel efficient subcompact cars, the country has also developed a liking for massive passenger vehicles such as MPVs, pickups and SUVs. This trend is attributed to the improving fuel economy of these car models and the easy-to-avail of auto loans that dealers are offering to buyers.
Below is the list of the best selling cars for the first quarter of 2014:

Towering at number ten is the beloved mid-size SUV Everest. With 1,067 units sold, it is considered the best performer on a year-to-date basis.

Isuzu’s marketing campaign of shifting from urban to rural consumers has paid off. This off-road SUV has been bought by at least 1,292 buyers so far this year.

Another long running AUV model has made it into the list. This car has been on the market for more than a decade and sold 1,810 units in the first part of the year.

The City is considered Honda’s top dog, with more than 50 percent of the Japanese brand’s sales coming from this model. The 2014 release of this car is expected to boost sales even further. For now, it has sold over 2,000 units.

Finally a pickup on the list. The Ranger’s powerful engine, more relevant design and road presence earned the nod of its 2,100 buyers.

The sedan variant of the Mirage has been appreciated by at least 2,144 buyers. This is a car suited to different urban lifestyles. It’s also affordable and very stylish.

Business is good in the Philippines and what better vehicle to start one than an L300. With 2,669 units sold so far, it has proven to be a worthy contender.

Exclusively marketed in the Asian market as an AUV, the Innova has consistently finished with strong sales for the past 12 years. It has had a steady start with 4, 786 units sold this year thanks to a refreshed look.

The dominance of this vehicle in the SUV segment continues. Not many other vehicles offer such road dominance, versatile functionality and impressive styling as the Montero. It has sold 5,746 units and counting.
Toyota Vios
The new third generation Vios, which has a sportier exterior, is expected to dominate auto sales this year. The Vios Cup race in Clark, Pampanga also helped it to sell 7,798 units in the first three months of the year.
