MAN TGX

The cabin of the MAN TGX impresses highly with its car-like futuristic features and layout, which make it the most premium place to be in when you factor in all the full-sized trucks. This cabin is shared with the MAN TGS and gets a dual-tone black and beige finish.

The cabin looks futuristic due to the presence of a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console behind the four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the upper half of the centre console. Slightly tilted towards the driver side, the centre console also accommodates a range of buttons on its lower half and a nice-looking panel for the automatic climate control switches in the middle.

The asymmetric looking dashboard gets nice-looking AC vents, 12V power outlets and an electronic parking brake switch. The lower part of the centre console also has a rotary knob, which sits on a slanted panel at the bottom of the centre console and can control the functions of the infotainment system. There is a large Optim-view digital monitor to the left of the steering wheel, which serves the purpose of rearview mirrors.

From the looks of it, the MAN TGX feels like a proper new-age premium truck, which, unlike many other functional full-sized trucks, focuses on form as well. There are several design elements on the front and side profiles of the MAN TGX, which make it look aggressive and busy.

The front profile of the MAN TGX has a huge windshield in its upper half, which gets slightly tapering down panels on its sides. The lower part of the front profile of the MAN TGX looks aggressive with several design elements laid out together. There is a blacked-out trapezoidal grille in the middle, which extends down to the tall-looking front bumper as well. The part of the grille on the front apron gets a chrome garnish on the top of it, while there are L-shaped panels on its sides that accentuate the width of the truck.

The lower part of the grille, which is present in the middle of the tall-set front bumper, comes with three horizontal chrome slats. The busy looking corners of the front bumper have headlamps with LED projectors and L-shaped daytime running LEDs and sleek and sharp looking fog lamps below them. The lower part of the front bumper gets a wide trapezoidal air dam, just below the lower half of the grille.

The MAN TGX looks wide and muscular when viewed from the sides, with the broad looking door panels having a few sharp and asymmetric creases. The other highlights of the side profile of the MAN TGX include a zig-zag window waistline, flared wheel arches and a unique-looking blacked-out door handle.

The MAN TGX is on offer with a host of flexible drivetrains, the list of which includes 4x2, 4x4, 6x2, 6x4, 6x6, 8x2,8x4,8x6 and 8x8 configurations. There are three cab options to choose from – TM Cab (slim, long, medium-high), TN Cab (slim, long, standard high) and NN Cab (slim, medium length, standard high), which are available in these flexible drivetrain options.

There are three different inline-six diesel engine options provided in the range of MAN TGX. The first one in the list is a 9.0-litre D1556 engine available with three different power outputs – 330PS, 360 PS and 400 PS. Second on the list is a 12.4-litre D2676 engine available in three different power output options – 430 PS, 470 PS and 510 PS. The range-topping 15.2-litre D3876 is offered with three different power outputs too – 540 PS, 580 PS and 640 PS.

The expansive list of safety features available in the MAN TGX include driver airbag, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane change collision prevention assist, lane change support, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning, lane return assist, brake assist, turn assist and high-beam assist. You can also spec the MAN TGX with optional safety features like video turn assist, side camera assist and 360-degree parking camera.

While the MAN TGX commands a hefty premium over other full-sized trucks available in the country, the premium is worth the expensive features and technologies it is offering in its package.
