With the Territory, Ford Philippines has finally ventured into the premium compact crossover car space – a segment in which it was missing for quite a long time in the Philippines car market. The Ford Territory slots in between the entry-level compact SUV car Ecosport and premium midsize SUV Everest. The Ford Territory began its life as Yusheng S330, a product from JMC-Ford’s joint venture in China, and is essentially a badge-engineered version of the same.
Ford Territory History
It was the year 2017 when the joint venture of JMC and Ford in China worked to bring a premium compact crossover by the name of Yusheng S330. Ford decided to work on its own badged version of the same platform, and with heavy revisions to its styling in and out and mild reengineering under the skin, it came up with the Territory. The Ford Territory now is an integral part of Ford’s lineup in China and is gradually making its entry in other global markets, with that of Philippines being the first one.
The Ford Territory was launched in the Philippines in 2020 and is currently in its very first generation avatar. It has been positioned as a product for those who find Ecosport too small for their liking and Everest too big of an SUV for their daily urban runabouts.

The Ford Territory shares its mechanical underpinnings with the Yusheng S330, including the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which has been co-developed by JMC and Ford in China. This engine powers both the variants of the Ford Territory Trend and Titanium+ - and is coupled to a CVT gearbox in both the variants, making it the only Ford SUV to come with a CVT gearbox. This powertrain in the Ford Territory makes 143 PS of maximum power and 225 Nm of peak torque.
The higher-spec Ford Territory Titanium+ variant makes it one of the most well-spec crossovers currently in its segment, with the long list of equipment comprising of LED headlamps and tail lamps, powered driver’s seat, heated and cooled front seats, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speaker audio system and Android Auto and Apple Carplay, automatic climate control, panoramic moonroof, keyless entry with push-button start, leather upholstery, wireless charging, rear AC vents and more.
