Thus, a decade or so ago saw the advent of crossover SUVs that look as good as the traditional SUV, but ride and handle like a car as they are based on car platforms, not trucks. So if you’re out searching for a mid-size crossover SUV that is easy to drive, safe, and can comfortably accommodate seven people, look no further than the Kia Sorento.

Starting out as a traditional truck-based body-on-frame SUV in 2002, the first generation Kia Sorento vehicles gradually evolved into a legit crossover SUV with unibody construction and a car-based platform by 2010. This makes the 2011 Kia Sorento the beginning of the second generation that incorporated Kia’s “tiger nose” grille and the Kia UVO.

The mid-cycle refresh for the second generation started with the 2014 Sorento that sported a redesigned instrument panel and new front and rear end with tail lights modeled after the Kia Optima. The 2015 Sorento is the last model year for the second generation. The all-new Kia Sorento 2015 was unveiled during the Manila International Auto Show along with the Kia Grand Carnival last April 2015. The 2018 Kia Sorento just recently hit Kia dealerships in Malaysia and is yet to land on Philippine shores.
