Nissan NP300 Navara Overview

Nissan has had quite a fruitful expertise in making UVs of all kinds in all these years of its experience as a versatile vehicle manufacturer. While Nissan Philippines has always been popular with its range of SUV Cars, the segment of lifestyle pickup trucks was only explored by the Japanese car maker in 2015, when it came up with the all new NP300 Navara. While Nissan has been making the NP300 Navara pickup in other corners of the world, the pickup debuted in the Philippines car market with its third generation version in 2015.

Nissan NP300 Navara History

After having all of its rivals like Toyota, Isuzu and Mitsubishi, and even Ford and Chevrolet, established in the utilitarian as well as lifestyle pickup segments of Philippines, Nissan made a late entry in the same area with the third generation NP300 Navara. The first and second generations of the global model of the Nissan NP300 Navara were never brought to the Philippines shores officially, though there were some private importers of the vehicle in the past.

The Nissan NP300 Navara was always available in five different variants – EL 4x2, VE 4x2, VE 4x4, VL 4x2 and VL 4x4. The facelifted model, which was introduced in 2020, also saw the arrival of an all new range topping Pro-4x 4x4 variant, which looks more sinister than the lower variants with its blacked out exterior elements and additional features.

The common mainstay of all the variants of the Nissan NP300 Navara is a 2.5-litre four cylinder diesel engine, however, it is the state of tune which differs in all the variants. The engine is being offered with two transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic gearbox. While with the manual gearbox, the engine makes 163 PS of power and 403 Nm of torque, the engine paired with the automatic gearbox delivers 190 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque. The base EL 4x2 and VE 4x4 come standard with the manual gearbox, while the range topping Pro-4X 4x4 and VL 4x2 come paired to only a 7-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the VE 4x2 and VL 4x4 are offered with both gearbox options.

Nissan has tried to stay in the game of making lifestyle pickup trucks not only in the departments of performance and visual appeal, but also when it comes to safety features on board. The Nissan NP300 Navara is equipped with a number of modern safety features such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle dynamic control with 4-wheel active brake limited slip differential, trailer stability assist and reverse parking sensors with camera. However, it misses out on more modern autonomous safety features which are gradually making their way in the segment.
