Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH), being the newest member of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), took part in the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), showcasing one of its latest offerings, the Ioniq 5.
The two-day event of the group — powered by Carmudi Philippines and Zigwheels Philippines — was held at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The event is in line with the group's thrust at educating the public as well as pushing the public to adopt the EV usage in the country.
The model was first previewed locally at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
HMPH recalled that Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) started its aggressive thrust towards electrification last year, saying that the global brand is committed to be a frontrunner in the field and have set goals to achieve clean mobility. “By 2025, there will be a total of 23 eco-friendly models in its line-up. The target is one million units and a 10-percent share in the market, with 30 percent coming from the Asia-Pacific region,” HMPH shared.
To note, Hyundai’s electric-global modular platform is the company’s first dedicated EV platform. It provides 800 volts of ultra-fast charging and increased driving range of up to 481 kilometers. The battery pack’s position under the floor within the wheelbase guarantees ideal weight distribution between the front and rear and a lower center of gravity for improved handling. The battery pack — restructured to maximize interior room — was built with an ultra-high strength steel structure for enhanced protection.
Guided by the brand vision of “Progress for Humanity”, HMPH is eyeing to be a medium of bringing back joy to travel and making the most out of time when driving.
The vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature of Hyundai’s EV offerings allows users to store and convert energy to power up external devices and appliances, especially when the customers are out camping. It can also deliver energy during crises or relief operations.
On the other hand, Hyundai models with vehicle-to-vehicle technology grants users the capability to charge through or be a “roving service”. Designed to boost the confidence of owners by providing aftersales support at a time and place of their choice, similar to towing requests or emergency rescues.
“Hyundai Motor has always been vocal in its commitment towards mobility that rewards people and the planet. This pursuit for sustainability aims to empower individuals yearning for a green world that they can be in charge of living out change starting with our Ioniq 5,” HMPH Deputy General Manager for Marketing Mark Parulan said in his presentation alongside company president President Dong Wook Lee.
“Its signature look is definitely special and hard to miss. Though not only is it a mere display, but also the source powering up the café here at our booth. This is made possible via its V2L functionality, which we urge visitors to check and learn first-hand. Don’t miss this chance and grab a freshly brewed cup,” he added.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the triple-crown winner of the 2022 World Car Awards after being recognized as the World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year.
