The latest version of the Honda Civic has received a five-star rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).
The first Honda model to be assessed under the new ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol, the Thailand-spec iteration of the all-new Honda Civic received an overall rating of 83.47 points.
The said model got 36.59 points over 40 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 18.32 points over 20 for the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category, 18.16 points over 20 for Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) and 10.39 points for Motorcyclist Safety (MS) category.
The said model (which is the EL+ trim in the Land of Smiles) is fitted with six airbags and has the standard anti-lock brake system; electronic stability control; autonomous emergency brake for City, Inter-Urban, and Pedestrian and motorcycle; Auto High Beam (AHB), Child Presence Detection (CPD) and Pedestrian Protection technology across all its variants.
The said model will be available in the Philippine market, most probably this month.
Prior to this, the aforementioned model in the United States already earned Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating in September.
