13 Volvo vehicles earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards
In a recent press release, Volvo Cars announced that it has now received 13 Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Of which, 10 were earned in February and the other three this April.

It was the Top Safety Pick+ award.The aforemetioned award is the highest safety rating a vehicle can receive from the organization and requires the vehicles assessed to score a “Good” rating in six crashworthiness tests that include driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.
Tested vehicles should also get an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating in the crash prevention evaluations which involve both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian warnings.
Lasty, in order to get a Top Safety Pick+ award, cars need to get either “Acceptable” or “Good” ratings in the IIHS’ headlight evals.
“We are proud that IIHS has once again recognized our vehicles, including six electric and hybrid models, with Top Safety Pick+ awards,” said Volvo Car USA President and Chief Executive Officer Anders Gustafsson.
The honored vehicles include the Volvo C40 Recharge, Volvo XC40, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Volvo S60, Volvo S60 Recharge, Volvo S90, Volvo S90 Recharge, Volvo V60 Cross Country, Volvo V90 Cross Country, Volvo XC60, Volvo XC60 Recharge, Volvo XC90, and Volvo XC90 Recharge.
The cars come with a suite of safety features such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian, and cyclist detection as standard, while many competitors still offer them only as options.
