Nearly 150 individuals took part in the 15th Ford Driving Skills for Life kickoff.Who is Ford Philippines' training facilitator in the Driving Skills for Life program?
Ford Philippines' training facilitator for the program is Tuason Racing School. The aforementioned number of participants who joined the program — which is now on its 15th year —were from various local government organizations, private firms, clubs and other groups.
Overall, more than 33,000 individuals have received in-class as well as hands-on training that are aimed to push road and vehicle safety.
Per Ford Philippines, this year’s theme — dubbed “Driving Smart. Protecting Lives. Building Safer Roads” — is in line with the core essence of the DSFL and its goal to educate through safe driving tips and techniques and practical driving.
The modules for this year include driving on different terrains, at nighttime, during floods and rainy weather, with children, and road sharing with cyclists, motorcycle drivers, and pedestrians.
Ford Philippines highlighted the need to learn road sharing practices following the rise of motorcycle riders and cyclists. “One of DSFL’s new modules equips participants with knowledge on overall driving dynamics needed to ensure safer journeys,” the company added.
Likewise, the Ford DSFL will continue to cover key topics relevant to drivers such as basic vehicle dynamics, safe driving technologies, anti-distracted driving techniques, fuel-efficient driving, and new road rules and regulations. Reinforcing the lectures is the practical driving session that includes exercises on parking, braking, anti-distracted driving, and fuel-efficient driving.
“We are excited to launch this year’s edition of the DSFL and introduce new modules that aim to upskill drivers with smart and safe driving tips and techniques that they can apply every day,” Ford Philippines and Asia Pacific Distributor Markets Communications Director Edward Joseph Francisco was quoted as saying.
“The last 15 years has been monumental for DSFL in the Philippines with the scale and impact that it has achieved in promoting driver and road safety in the country. We thank our partners and participants for their support and collaboration, and we celebrate this milestone with them,” he added.
The launch of DSFL in the Philippines officially caps the Ford Global Month of Caring celebrated every September by Ford employees and volunteers around the world.
Established in 2003 by the Ford Motor Company Fund, the United States Governors Highway Safety Association, and a panel of safety experts, the DSFL was created to share newly licensed drivers the necessary skills for safe driving beyond what is learned in standard driver education programs.
Locally, the DSFL is conducted by long-time partner and training facilitator Tuason Racing School.
