1,500 motorists flagged down on 1st 4 days of exclusive moto lane dry run in Commonwealth
Nearly 1,500 motorists and riders were flagged down during the first four days of the exclusive motorcycle lane dry run along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

For the first days of the dry run, it was on March 10 that the agency had the most number of vehicles stopped.Based on the data shared by the agency, a total of 1,494 motorists and riders were stopped for not following the policy (set to be fully implemented on March 20) along the country’s widest thoroughfare (from Elliptical Road to Doña Carmen and vice versa).
MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Romando Artes said that during the first day of the dry run, the agency flagged down 337 vehicle drivers (276 motorcycles and 61 four-wheeled vehicles). The volume spiked to 569 on March 10, which is made up of 368 motorcycles and 201 four-wheeled vehicle vehicles.
The next day (March 11), the number of motorists who were waved down decreased to 363 (177 riders and 186 drivers of four-wheeled vehicles). Yesterday, only 225 vehicles (128 motorcycle riders and 97 four-wheel vehicles) were stopped by the authorities.
"We are hopeful that these numbers will continue to decline as we continue to guide our motorists for another week of test runs for the exclusive motorcycle lane on the largest highway in the metropolis," Artes said.
Meanwhile, Artes said that there might be another exclusive motorcycle lane that will be put on other major roads in the National Capital Region should the policy become successful in the Commonwealth area.
