2018 Nissan Leaf will be Exhibited in 6th PH Electric Vehicle Summit
The sixth Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) is set to kick off on July 10, 2018. This summit aims to focus on areas of collaboration to drive wider electric vehicles (EVs) adoption for public and private transport. In line with this, Nissan Philippines Assistant General Manager for Communications Dax Avenido announced that the 2018 Leaf will be exhibited at the upcoming PEVS summit.
However, Avenido told CARMUDI PHILIPPINES that Nissan Philippines has yet to confirm the exact date as to when they will offer the Leaf electric vehicle in the market. He added that Nissan can bring the Leaf in the local market, but the problem lies in the readiness of our country, which is a valid and a reasonable point. Do we have enough charging stations? Do we have definite guidelines when it comes to EV registration? Moreover, will our government offer incentives for those who’ll buy EVs? A lot of questions that still don’t have concrete answers.
The positive thing we can derive from the Leaf's Philippine tour next month is the solid commitment of Nissan Philippines toward EVs in the country.
Speaking of which, we reported last month that Nissan is determined to expand the market reach of its EVs by making it more accessible to consumers. The all-new Leaf is confirmed to be made available in South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand this 2018. The brand added that they are also considering to bring the Leaf to the Philippine market.
