Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, introduces the newest addition to their lineup, the 2019 Lecus UX. The model, an entry-level crossover, is the first Lexus to be built on the new GA-C global architecture platform, which makes use of a lightweight yet super-rigid structure that has a low center of gravity and refined suspension tuning.

The base model UX200 has a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine under the hood, which transmits 168 hp and 205 Nm to a Direct Shift CVT transmission to the front wheels. The next trim, the UX250h hybrid, uses the same engine but adds an all-wheel-drive system and a nickel-meta-hydride battery-powered electric motor. The combo delivers 176 hp, making the UX250h the more powerful and economical of the two models. A second electric motor provides AWD capability at up to 69 kph in low-grip situations.

Both the UX200 and UX250h will have an optional 'F Sport' package, which adds an exclusive grille design, black front and rear moldings, a slightly different rear bumper design, and 18-inch alloy wheels to the exterior.

Inside, the F Sport trims will have an LFA supercar-inspired gauge cluster, leather steering wheel and gear selector, aluminum sport pedals, and an eight-inch LCD touchscreen. The non-F-Sport models will have a seven-inch screen instead.

Standard safety tech features include intelligent high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and road sign assist.

"The Lexus UX is designed for the modern urban explorer seeking a fresh, contemporary and dynamic take on luxury driving," said Chika Kako, executive vice president of Lexus International and chief engineer of the UX. "We designed the 2019 Lexus UX to appeal to young buyers who seek not only what is new and exciting, but what is also relevant to their lifestyles."
