The Subaru WRX STI received a lot of new nifty features and nip/tuck here and there in 2018, so as expected, very little has changed for 2019. However, if you're one of those who grump about the STI's lack of power, worry no more, because max output has been bumped up, pushing the true turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine to an impressive 310 hp.
The power boost comes courtesy of five improvements: a new air intake; the installation of a high-performance exhaust system; a retuned ECU; the revision of the third-gear ratio; and more dynamic pistons. The third-gear improvement in particular, allows the STI to accelerate quicker than before.
The infotainment system has also been updated to include smartphone integration. Torque vectoring and a controllable center differential remain standard. The 2019 Subaru WRX STI Limited trim comes with a low-profile spoiler option for those who don’t like the appearance of the usual rear wing. There's also a Subaru WRX STI Series Gray model. Even with the base STI, you’ll still get Recaro seats, a power driver’s seat, and push-button start keyless entry.
