A few days ago, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP)just launched the newest generation of the Toyota Wigo.
First introduced in 2014, this affordable car is the first choice among new car owners for it provided the local market a wider variety when it comes to entry-level hatchbacks without having to compromise on features.
To give you an idea how successful it is in the Philippine soil, it already has around 83,000 units plying around the country since its introduction here. To add to that it is also the league-leader in the entry-level hatchback segment.
The all new 2020 Toyota Wigo—also known as the Agya in the Indonesian market—features a more aggressive and angrier-looking front added also the “Alteza-like” look for the projector halogen headlights. With redesigned interiors and new instrument cluster that also compliments the refreshed exterior of the vehicle. The Philippine arm for the Japanese automaker offers the new Toyota Wigo in four variants; a 1.0 E MT, a 1.0 G MT, a 1.0 G AT and the updated TRD-S AT.
Equipped with a 1.0-liter 3-Cylinder Engine capable of delivering 66 horsepower and up to 89 Nm of torque.
Despite being the base model Wigo, this particular variant is still equipped with refreshed upgrades for the exterior, as well as a redesigned and spacious interior similar with the higher variants. With a knob-type air conditioner, 2DIN audio system with features like basic radio, AUX, USB, CD and Bluetooth and a 3-Spoke Urethane Steering wheel minus the switches.
The previous base model offered manual windows compared to its higher variant brothers. While in the latest upgrade, the Japanese car maker added power windows and generously provided it with quite similar exterior and interior features from the other variants. The all new base model Wigo starts at P557,000.
The Toyota Wigo 1.0 VVT-i G MT comes with the same 5-speed manual transmission from the base model but with added features like LCD Air Conditioner Panel and a touch screen display audio system with the additional steering wheel switches. This compliments the amenities found in the redesigned interior of the vehicle. This variant also has a 14-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, which is also found in the higher variants. The Wigo G MT has been fittrd with more advanced features like retractable side mirrors, push-start ignition and keyless entry.
For some, this may be the best variant as it still offers the stick-shift configuration without compromising the updated features. The Wigo G MT is being retailed at P596,000.
Who does not like to have a car that has automatic transmission with such a compact design? Nowadays, despite the lockdown, we are all suffering from large amounts of vehicles clogging up the metro.
With the Toyota Wigo 1.0 G AT that is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission. All the features in the G variant are present and the added Anti-theft system ensures the user with its built-in car alarm system. It is priced at P631,000.

The poster child of this latest iteration of the Toyota Wigo is the TRD variant. Majority of the changes are found outside that includes different lighting system, rear skirts, TRD side skirts, front spoiler, a two-tone rear spoiler and TRD S badges and Decals.
The Android Auto and Apple Car Play compatible infotainment audio system are also unique for this variant.
A slight increase in its dimension is also noticeable at 3,700 millimeters, compared to the other variants with only 3,660mm.
With all the same features available from the G variant like Back Camera, Keyless Entry and for this trim level only, Toyota threw in a Dashboard camera for safety and security. The top of the line Toyota Wigo is yours to take home at P696,000.
