2021 Ford F150

Sale of the 2021 Ford F-150 is almost underway in North America, and the Blue Oval pumps up the hype on the popular pickup by touting its best-in-class towing and payload capabilities, the company claimed.

The highlight of the lineup is easily the all-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine—one of five engine options for the 2021 F-150. This one can carry up to 1,474kgs and tow up to 6,350kgs when equipped with the Max Trailer Tow Package. It’s “the most torque ever in an F-150 with available Pro Power Onboard providing up to 18 times more exportable power than the nearest competitor,” according to iconic American car brand.

Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter PowerBoost V6 in the hybrid model can carry and pull 962 and 5,761kgs, respectively.

Here’s a breakdown of the payload and towing capacities for each of the 2021 Ford F-150’s five available engines:

All engines link to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the sole gearbox option for the 2021 lineup.

Aside from its powerful set of engines, the all-new F-150 also brings in innovative features like available Pro Power Onboard, Interior Work Surface, Pro Trailer Backup Assist and a Tailgate Work Surface.

Standard over-the-air updates for the SYNC 4 operating system keep the F-150 at the forefront of technology, wtih its new-gen infotainment system designed to provide utmost usability, convenience, and connectivity.

Moreover, the all-new F-150 offers the latest driver-assist features as part of Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0. More features are now standard on the base XL trim, including Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection to help avoid a possible collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian. A rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist, auto high-beam headlamps and auto on/off headlamps are also standard across the range.

The 2021 F-150 comes in six different trims same as the outgoing model: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Buyers can choose from three cab styles (regular, extended, and four-door “SuperCrew”) as well as three bed lengths (5-foot-6, 6-foot-6, and 8 feet). Likewise, the dimensions for the new truck are more or less the same as its predecessor.

“F-150 is the flagship of Ford’s dedication to building the best trucks and represents our commitment to not just meeting customer needs but exceeding them,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “With capability and functionality foundational to F-Series, the all-new F-150 not only tows more and hauls more than any other light-duty full-size pickup, it is built to surpass customer expectations with smart innovations that will make them even more productive every day.”

Ford is also planning an all-electric version of the F-150 pickup, with plans for a mid-2022 release.

As Ford PH has just released the 2020 Ford F-150, it may take a while before the 2021 model reaches our shores. If you’re not willing to wait that long, feel free to shop for the locally available F-150 here on Carmudi.
