Launching the Corolla Cross crossover SUV locally last August, it looks like Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) intends its latest model addition as a mid-price crossover option by limiting the variants to just two, priced at PHP1,285,000 for the bass 1.8 G CVT variant and PHP1,650,000 for the 1.8 V Hybrid variant—a PHP365,000 price difference.
So what features make up the difference in prices? And is the price gap justified? Check out the difference between the two 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross models below.

Both of the gasoline and hybrid variant are powered by a Euro-4 compliant 1.8-liter gasoline engine, with the latter being aided by a 53kW motor. Gear changes for both cars are handled by an electric continuously variable system, but the hybrid comes with three nifty driving modes (ECO, Power, and EV) designed to enhance driving efficiency.
Cabin-wise, the Corolla Cross boasts plenty of piano black surfaces, with an overall design that largely mirrors its sedan counterpart. Upholstery options include leather for the Hybrid, and fabric for the base. The Hybrid steering wheel hosts more functionality options than the CVT, boasting MID, Audio, Phone, Voice, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Tracing Assist switches as opposed to just MID, Audio, and Phone for the latter.
The Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid comes with the benefit of the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of driver assistance technologies, which include Pre-Collision, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist (with Steering Assist), Lane Departure Alert (with Steering Assist), and Adaptive Cruise Control. Despite not having TSS, the base model still comes with some advanced safety courtesy of Vehicle Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist. ASEAN NCAP safety tests rate the Corolla Cross a five-star car.
Standard safety features on both models include anti-lock brakes (with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution), rearview camera, and seatbelts all around. Both models also have clearance sensors, but the Hybrid has more—six (two front, four rear) to the base’s two (rear only).
Both 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross variants have four standard colors to choose from: Red Mica Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Metal Stream Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl Mica, which costs an extra PHP15,000.
