Fresh from its debut a year ago, the 2021 Toyota Supra will now offer an added power boost, a re-tuned chassis to make it more unstoppable in cornering and stability, a new, limited edition model, the A91, together with its four-cylinder Turbocharged edition.
And to make the deal even sweeter, Toyota is also throwing out assistance packages that are truly fit for a king.
The newest Supra had an engine rehaul, with a new piston design that lessens engine compression ration from 11:1 to 10:2:1. This prevents abnormal combustion during high boost.
The slew of engine upgrades now boasts of a 14-percent increase in power, with its turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six increasing from 335 hp at 5,000-6,500 rpm to 382 hp at 5,800-6,500 rpm.
Meanwhile, its torque also rises from 494 Nm at 1,600-4,500 rpm to 499 Nm at 1,800-5,000 rpm.
Known for its exceptional handling/ride balance, the Supra's chassis has been modified to improve roll resistance and cornering stability. It now comes with lightweight aluminum braces, together with front and rear bump stops and a new damper tuning.
The 2021 Supra is now 200 lbs lighter than its predecessor. Its weight reduction has been spread more evenly throughout the vehicle, now using smaller front brake rotors and replacing its 10-speaker system with a four-speaker audio system.
Safety-wise, the 2021 GR Supra's inline six-cylinder also offers the Safety and Technology package that will include:
Meanwhile, the Driver’s Assist Package will still be an available option on the 3.0 Premium and A91 Edition. It includes:
Toyota now comes with the special edition A91. It comes with a rear black carbon fiber lip spoiler, matte black wheels, C-pillar graphics and carbon fiber mirror caps to make it stand out even better.
Interior-wise, the special, limited edition A91 will come with black Alcantara® leather-trimmed interior with blue contrasts and a pair of exclusive key gloves and trunk mat.
Toyota is only offering 1,000 of these vehicles. It is available in a choice of two colors: Nocturnal or Refraction (exclusive to the A91 Edition).
The Supra now comes with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that shares many of its technology with its 3.0-liter inline-cousin. This includes a twin-scroll turbo, direct fuel injection and continuously variable timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts.
The Toyota Supra 2.0 comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and projects 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds. This makes it Toyota’s second quickest vehicle in the lineup.
Its variable intake valve lift system adjusts the intake valve timing and duration, giving it a powerful 255 hp at 5,000-6,500 rpm and 400 Nm torque at 1,550 to 4,400 rpm.
