2022 Audi RS5 Sportback now available in PH

Audi Philippines has announced the arrival of the 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback—the first RS model in the country rendered in a stylish five-door fastback coupe body style.

Developed under Audi Sport (the high-performance division of Audi AG), the 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback joins the other RS model series now available locally, namely the RS 5 Coupe, RS Q3 Sportback, RS 4 Avant, RS 6 Avant, and RS Q8 SUV.

The new Audi RS 5 Sportback is equipped with a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V6 TFSI engine that is capable of delivering up to 450hp and 600Nm. Mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, the vehicle can cover 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds. In normal driving operation its quattro permanent all-wheel drive system distributes 40 percent of the power to the front axle and the rest to the rear. However, the center differential can redirect up to 70 percent of the power toward the front, or up to 85 percent toward the rear.

For its exterior, the 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback continues to wear the sporty and elegant character that the brand is known for. The wave-like shoulder line complements the long hood, stretched wheelbase, muscular fenders and short overhangs. Seen above the RS Singleframe grill are implied air vents similar to those on the original 1980s Audi Quattro.

The rear RS-specific bumper has been redesigned to match the lip spoiler, LED combination lamps, diffuser and RS exhaust system.

Further accentuating the overall look of the new Audi RS 5 Sportback is the Black Optic trim package, which includes the RS tailpipes.

The 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback sits on 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels and are available in three distinctive designs namely:

• the five-arm Peak Style in matte bronze,
• the five-arm Flag Style in anthracite, and;
• the five-segment-spoke Evo.

Vehicle occupants enjoy a futuristic interior design, starting with the 10.1-inch MMI touch display and the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit.

These intuitive technologies are paired to the athletic looking flat-bottom steering wheel with multifunction Plus controls, a pair of RS sports seats wrapped in perforated Valcona leather, three-zone climate control, the extended leather package, carbon twill trim, as well as a Bang and Olufsen 3D audio system, among other premium items.   

Providing comfort is the RS sport suspension with Dynamic Ride Control made up of steel springs and three-way adjustable dampers. This offers three suspension and performance characteristics that can be chosen using Audi drive select — Comfort, Auto and Dynamic.

Further, the new Audi RS 5 Sportback provides drive settings RS1 and RS2 modes which can be individually configured, saved, and then selected directly via the RS Mode button on the steering wheel. The Audi drive select also controls engine and transmission management, steering boost, the quattro differential, the sound emitted by the RS sport exhaust system, and even the automatic air-conditioning.
