2022 Chery launches EQ5 in China
Chinese automotive manufacturer Chery has recently introduced the 2022 version of the electric compact crossover EQ5 in its home country.

The updated EV model can go as fast as 200kph and can cover0-50kph in 3.6 seconds.Following last year’s launch of the 2021 EQ5, the latest iteration of the nameplate received nearly 100 upgrades in terms of aesthetics, performance, technology and overall experience.
“As China's leading auto brand, Chery initiated the independent research and development of new energy vehicles as early as 1999. After more than 20 years of development, Chery has gradually formed industry leading advantages in the series of new energy passenger vehicle research and development system and integration platform, four new energy vehicle platforms, five general subsystems, and seven core technologies,” the company shared in a statement.
The newest version of the electric compact sport utility vehicle is equipped with Chery's latest energy technological features, which includes the @Life technology platform, the three-in-one electric drive system and the @Pilot L2+ automatic assist driving system.

According to the automaker, the @Life platform is committed to “building a full scene of green and intelligent life for users.”
The green concept, Chery noted, is integrated in an all-aluminum frame body, outer covering with high-performance composite material, evolving battery technology and extensible platform technology, among others. The ‘intelligent’ component on the other hand, includes the following parts: intelligent battery, intelligent driving and intelligent electric drive.
Aside from that, the 2022 Chery EQ5 wears a lightweight all-aluminum body, which reduces overall weight by 30 percent and increases stiffness by 20 percent. The said vehicle, Chery said, is manufactured based on the New Car Assessment Program five-star standards in China (C-NCAP).
3-in-1 electric drive system
The three-in-one electric drive system found in the 2022 Chery EQ5 has been improved. The electric drive system (which combines the motor, motor controller and reducer, applies lightweight design and ensures the highest motor efficiency of 97 percent) is designed to dish out a quiet and comfortable driving environment while delivering high efficiency and strong power.
Further, it also has high power output with 15-percent power improvement, maximum speed of 200kph, can cover 0-50kph in 3.6 seconds, relative two-percent NVH improvement, and running noise improvement of 1.5 decibels compared with that of the split motor.
Upgraded @Pilot L2+ automatic assist driving system
The updated @Pilot L2+ automatic assist driving system has the following features: self-adaptive cruise control system, lane keeping assist system, lane departure protection system, autonomous emergency braking system, automatic parking assist system, and BAWS fatigue monitoring system.
Moreover, 2022 Chery EQ5 has also upgraded its Face ID recognition function, which adopts the software algorithm to extract facial information for matching and authentication with accuracy of ≥98 percent. “It takes only seven seconds from key unlocking to system startup, with a recognition rate of ≤300ms, and only 0.2 seconds from face capture to completion of authentication. In addition, the VIP intelligent system can provide courtesy and memory service, which can remember the user's drive habits and life hobbies,” Chery noted.
Relatedly, Chery said that its global leading new energy vehicle models “will soon appear in countries in Asia, Europe, South America and other regions, bringing unique new energy vehicle driving experience to global consumers.”
