Chevrolet announced that the upcoming 2022 year models of the Tahoe and Suburban nameplates will come with more power and technology.
“Tahoe and Suburban customers keep coming back thanks to the capability, space, and technology these vehicles bring to every road trip or daily drive. Chevrolet keeps innovating with these popular full-size SUVs, and it’s part of the formula that makes them segment leaders,” said Chevrolet Truck Marketing Director Kelly MacDonald.
In terms of power, the RST, Z71, and Premier variants of the Tahoe and Suburban SUVs will now be available with Chevy’s 6.2-liter V8 engine — the same one found on the ZR2 race-proven off-road truck.
The 420-horsepower mill comes with dual exhaust pipes and features Dynamic Fuel Management technology, designed to optimize engine efficiency across a broad range of driving conditions, including when towing a trailer.
Chevy’s 5.3-liter V8 engine will still be available on the LS, LT, Z71, RST, and Premier models of the Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. Likewise, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel powerplant is still available on all upcoming 2022 models of both SUVs except the Z71.
All the available engines will be mated to a 10-speed automatic tranny with a push-button electronic shift.
In addition, the Z71 variant will have eLSD which reacts quickly to shift power to the wheel with better traction contributing to increased driver confidence in difficult types of terrain and weather conditions.
Tech-wise, the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban will now offer enhanced trailering technology with 13 unique camera views including a transparent trailer view that helps drivers see through a connected, compatible trailer when the truck is properly equipped.
A new 12.3-inch diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster will also be made available on both the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban LT trims and above.
In the same way, 2022 Tahoe and Suburban LT trims and above will also have an infotainment system with Google built-in. This gives drivers access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play right on the vehicle display.
The pre-loaded apps can be accessed even without their phones integrated into the vehicle’s infotainment unit.
Safety is also improved in these vehicles as Chevrolet makes front and rear park assist as well as lane-keep assist with lane departure warning standard across all 2022 Tahoe and Suburban trims.
According to Chevrolet, production of the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban range will begin production in October. Prices and release dates are yet to be announced.
