Honda just dropped one of the meanest-looking crossover SUVs to hit its Thai lineup, a blacked-out CR-V. This has got us wondering if Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) will ever bring this model to local shores.
Coming in as a 2022 year model, the Honda CR-V Black Edition will only be offered in one color option — Crystal Black Pearl. The pitch-black Thai-spec crossover will also have a dark chrome radiator grille, a gloss black front bumper with dark chrome trim, gloss black rear bumper, gloss black roof rails (a first for the nameplate), dark chrome door lower garnish, and 17-inch wheels that are likewise black. A “Black Edition” badge is also slapped at the Honda CR-V’s rear.
In addition, the 2022 Honda CR-V Black Edition will sport LED sequential headlights, sporty LED front fog lights, smoked taillights, and a rear spoiler integrated high-mount stop lamp.
Inside, the same blacked-out theme continues and can be seen on the console that features black wood and piano black trims. Honda’s Thai customers will get to enjoy black leather seats with “Black Edition” letterings on the front row.
Sitting at the center of the dashboard is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay. At the center console is a wireless charging pad. The 2022 Honda CR-V Black Edition will also have a full-sized panoramic sunroof.
Power will come from a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a continuous valve transmission (CVT) which produces 170hp and 224Nm of torque.
Other features that come as standard in the 2022 Honda CR-V Black Edition include the Honda LaneWatch, driver attention monitor, auto brake hold assist, walk away auto lock, and electric parking brake. It will not get Honda Sensing as it is reserved for the top-spec CR-V.
The CR-V Black Edition gets a sticker price of TBH1,467,000.
