Kia announced that its 2022 Forte compact sedan is now available in the United States — and boasts a myriad of updates in terms of design and technology.
The said iteration of the well-appreciated nameplate — which will be built in Monterrey, Mexico — is set to continue the momentum it enjoyed in the region as revealed by Kia North America and Kia America President and Chief Executive Officer Sean Yoon.
“Strong sales of Forte have helped Kia achieve its best third quarter sales in company history, and the refreshed 2022 model is poised to continue that successful momentum,” Yoon was quoted as saying.
“With its contemporary design, a robust suite of standard ADAS features, and the 201 horsepower of the exciting GT trim, the 2022 Forte continues to raise the bar in the compact sedan segment,” he added.
The exterior elements of the 2022 Kia Forte have been enhanced, which incorporate its new design identity. These include, sleeker, headlight designs, the next-generation Tiger-Nose grille, a wider and stronger appeal of the front and rear bumpers, up to 17-inch dark metal gray alloy wheel designs and a new trunk lid spoiler design.
Its top two variants sport an athletic LED tail lamp/rear combination lamp design and LED fog lights seamlessly integrated into air-intake grille.
Aside from that, the 2022 Kia Forte compact sedan has an expanded suite that is the Kia Drive Wise Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that features Standard Lane Following Assist (LFA), Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve (NSCC-C), Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Zone (NSCC-Z), and Safe Exit Warning (SEW).
Available in four variants, the 2022 Kia Forte is powered by either the 2.0-liter MPI I-4 engine (FE, LXS, GT-Line) that is mated to the Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission (IVT) or the turbocharged 1.6-liter GDI I-4 engine (GT variant) that is paired to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) or six-speed manual transmission.
The first powertrain option can deliver up to 147hp while the second provides as much as 201hp.
Locally, the Kia Forte is offered in three variants, with its prices ranging from P1.095 million up to P1.65 million.
