2022 Volkswagen Tiguan gets IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award

The 2022 Tiguan earns good ratings in the six crashworthiness evaluations. Tiguan models come standard with LED headlights, with the addition of the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) with dynamic cornering lights on the top trim. The lighting configurations both earn acceptable ratings. The Front Assist system receives a superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and an advanced rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention.
Volkswagen’s Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist) is intended to warn drivers of potential frontal collisions (Forward Collision Warning) with vehicles and pedestrians, and in some cases provide automatic braking assistance (Automatic Emergency Braking).
In addition to Front Assist, other driver assistance features offered on the 2022 Tiguan models include Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor) and Rear Traffic Alert. Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology is also available on all Tiguan models, and enables Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go, and Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System). Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency). In addition to IQ.DRIVE, Park Distance Control, Park Assist (Parking Steering Assistant), Dynamic Road Sign Display, and Light Assist (High Beam Control for headlights) are also available.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan shares the same award with fellow SUVs 2022 Ford Explorer, 2022 Hyundai Palisade, 2022 Mazda CX-9, and the 2022 Toyota Highlander.
