The two hybrid powertrain options that will be offered for the 2023 Ford Escape are a plug-in hybrid and a full hybrid powertrain.Per the Blue Oval brand, two new eco-friendly powertrain systems are set to be added to the nameplate’s lineup: a plug-in hybrid and a full hybrid powertrain option.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain will feature Ford’s advanced fourth-generation hybrid propulsion system, which consists of a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid engine mated to an electronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). It will target a United States (US) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-estimated all-electric range of 59.5 kilometers (km). Meanwhile, the full hybrid model with front-wheel-drive will target an EPA-estimated range of more than 885km.
“Ford is among the leading hybrid automakers in the US because we understand that not all of our customers are ready to go all-electric. With two hybrid powertrain choices, customers can spend less time at the gas station and keep more money in their pockets,” commented Ford Brand Manager Adrienne Zaski.
In addition, Ford announced that the 2023 Ford Escape range will also get ST-Line models namely the ST-Line, the ST-Line Select, and the ST-Line Elite.
Per the Dearborn-based carmaker, the new ST-Line will boost the look of the 2023 Ford Escape with athletic touches. At the fore will be a series-specific black mesh grille while the rear will come with a unique rear skid plate and a large single-wing rear spoiler.
The well-equipped ST-Line Elite model will include an available eye-catching “coast-to-coast” LED light bar that stretches from headlamp to headlamp for a distinctive addition.
The 18-inch Rock Metallic painted aluminum wheels will be standard on both the ST-Line and the ST-Line Select. The latter can be optioned with 19-inch Machine-Faced Ebony Painted aluminum wheels, which will be standard for the ST-Line Elite.
Interior appointments will include Ebony door panels, seat trim, center armrest, floor mats, and a steering wheel that will be highlighted with red stitching.
“Not every customer wants a rugged and boxy SUV, so we’ve made the new Escape more energetic, confident, and sleeker. The Escape interior complements the exterior, with a relaxing space that’s stylish yet comfortable with easy access to technology for the road or staying connected with friends and family,” said Ford Design Director Amko Leenarts.
The latest Ford Escape — a nameplate once available in the Philippines — will reach US dealerships in early next year.
