A camouflaged 2023 Honda CR-V was recently spotted in Thailand. One member from the Honda HR-V 2022 Club Thailand Facebook group posted photos of a wrapped sport utility vehicle (SUV) that resembles the said nameplate.
The pictures are captioned: “CR-V, right? (Front grille looks like HR-V) : Run Test at Khao Yai.”
The 2023 Honda CR-V is touted as an SUV that is rugged on the outside yet refined on the inside. Compared to the current-generation model, the incoming CR-V does look more aggressive with a bolder front end thanks to its larger, in-your-face grille. It also has a similarly-designed rear end with twin exhaust pipes.
Looking at the photos released by Honda, and the pictures uploaded by the Facebook group member, the back of the camouflaged SUV and the 2023 Honda CR-V look pretty much alike.
Based on Honda's arm in the United States, other confirmed features include a two-motor hybrid powertrain, real-time all-wheel-drive, hill descent control, a snow mode (which might not be available for ASEAN-spec 2023 Honda CR-V), 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, as well as a Bose premium sound system.
There’s still no official launch date set for the 2023 Honda CR-V, but since it’s being tested on Asian roads, our money is that it will soon make its way into Philippine territory. At the moment, Honda Cars Philippines Inc., the local distributor of the Japanese automotive brand, is still offering the 2022 CR-V.
Compared to the 2023 Honda CR-V, the locally-available model lacks the option for a hybrid powertrain and instead is fitted with either a 1.6- or a 2.0-liter gasoline mill mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It also has a smaller seven-inch infotainment system although it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When the SUV reaches Philippine shores, it will beef up Honda’s roster by offering Filipino car buyers a “rugged yet refined” ride that shares the same design language as the recently-launched Honda City, Honda Civic, and Honda HR-V.
