Some of the brands that will participate at the 2023 JMS are Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, and Lexus. What model showcased at the 2023 JMS can we expect to see here in the Philippines?
The Mitsubishi Triton shown in the 2023 JMS will arrive in the Philippines next year.Suzuki Swift Concept
Earlier this month, Suzuki revealed that it will bring the Swift Concept to the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
According to the Hamamatsu-headquartered car and motorcycle brand, the Suzuki Swift Concept boasts advanced safety technologies including Dual Sensor Brake Support II collision mitigation braking, Adaptive High Beam System, and Driver Monitoring System.
Further, it is said to have a high-efficiency engine, which strikes a balance between driving performance and fuel efficiency.
Suzuki eVX, eWX
Suzuki is also showcasing the eVX at the ongoing 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Having made its debut in India, the compact electric crossover gets an “evolved” exterior and finally has its interior revealed at the Japanese car show.
It is fitted with a battery that can provide an estimated range of 500 kilometers (km).
The Suzuki eVX is going to be joined by the eWX, which is what we’ll get if the Jimny and the S-Presso had an electrified baby. The futuristic electric mini wagon is a concept model that is outfitted with a battery that is said to offer up to 230km of all-electric range.
Suzuki e Every Concept
Suzuki is also presenting an electric solution for commercial fleets in the form of the e Every Concept. The commercial electric vehicle (EV) van was jointly developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., and Toyota Motor Corporation.
Its battery-electric system allows it to move people and light cargo for 200km with zero tailpipe emissions.
Suzuki Spacia Concept, Spacia Custom Concept
Finally, Suzuki is also displaying two concept cars at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show — the Spacia Concept and the Spacia Custom Concept.
Per the carmaker, the two models offer unique styling, spacious cabins, and are filled with Suzuki’s wish to “Make daily lives more fun, convenient, and comfortable!”
Honda Sustaina-C Concept, Pocket Concept
Also joining the 2023 Japan Mobility Show is Honda, one of the largest automakers in the country.
Honda is showcasing the Sustaina-C Concept, an electric car that resembles the Honda e. It is going to be accompanied by the Pocket Concept, a foldable motorbike that appears to share similarities with the Motocompo/Motocompacto.
According to Honda, these mobility solutions are designed to enable people to transcend the constraints of limited resources, which could imply that they are to be marketed to budget-conscious customers in Japan in the future. Further, they are made of recycled and reused acrylic resin, which would make them appealing to those who want a sustainably-built means of transportation.
Honda CI-MEV
The Honda CI-MEV is also making an appearance at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. It appears to be designed as a “last-mile” mobility solution for people who are in situations that tend to limit mobility, “such as when there is no public transportation or when people experience difficulty in walking a long distance.”
Per Honda, the CI-MEV is equipped with the brand’s original Cooperative Intelligence (CI) and automated driving technologies.
Honda AWV
The Minato City-based carmaker also has a showcase for the commercial sector in Japan with its Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV). Like the abovementioned CI-MEV, the AWV is also equipped with autonomous driving technology that will allow the transportation of large loads and the reformation of a variety of tasks on behalf of human users.
Mitsubishi Triton
The PH-bound Mitsubishi Triton is also being displayed at the ongoing 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
Per the three-diamond brand, the Mitsubishi Triton is slapped with a new 2.4-liter diesel powerplant, the brand’s Super Select 4WD-II drivetrain, as well as upgraded drive modes for superior driving performance.
The PH-bound Mitsubishi Triton also gets a newly-developed ladder frame, a commanding front-end design, and a classy yet comfortable interior.
Replacing the Mitsubishi Strada in the Chiyoda City-based brand’s PH lineup, Filipino car enthusiasts will soon see the Triton in the metal in January next year.
Mitsubishi also mentioned that the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) Mitsubishi Triton truck is also at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
Mitsubishi Delica D5
Joining the abovementioned AXCR truck is its support car, the Mitsubishi Delica D:5.
Fun fact, the Mitsubishi Delica was once offered here in the Philippines. Some models have been religiously maintained and are still plying our roads today.
Soon-to-be-revealed rugged crossover
Mitsubishi also teased a soon-to-be-revealed crossover, which promises to combine the handling of a sport utility vehicle while offering the comfort and ease of use of a multi-purpose vehicle.
It is said to have an electric four-wheel drive system as well as a high ground clearance, making it ideal for conquering driving over almost any terrain.
Other Mitsubishi EV, PHEV models
Finally, Mitsubishi said that it is also going to display some of its electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle models, such as the Outlander PHEV, the Eclipse Cross PHEV, and the eK X EV electric kei car.
Mitsubishi Last 1 mile Mobility
Offering its share of last-mile mobility solutions, Mitsubishi is presenting the Last 1 mile Mobility compact mobility system at the 2023 Japoan Mobility Show. Like the previously mentioned unnamed crossover, the Last 1 mile Mobility is also touted as a sort-of go-anywhere means of traveling.
A host of Mazda MX-5 cars
Mazda shared not too long ago that it will bring a host of MX-5 cars to the 2023 Japan Mobilty Show.
These include the first-generation Mazda MX-5 as well as the latest-generation model. In addition, Mazda is displaying the MX-5 SeDV — a car that can be controlled using only the driver's hands — and a two-thirds scale MX-5 model, which will provide young attendees with a simulated driving experience.
Mazda concept car
Mazda is also presenting a concept car at the auto expo. Not much has been said about the concept car but the Fuchu-headquartered company said that the concept car will symbolize its exhibit theme.
Lexus EV
Lexus also teased the arrival of a new EV, which we suspect could be an LC.
Teaser photos shared by Toyota’s luxury division a few weeks ago reveal a car with a low-slung stance as well as a fastback design, which give off LC vibes.
Those interested to find out what the new EV model is will not have to wait long as it will finally be unveiled today.
Suzuki Burgman NEVs
Suzuki is also bringing new-energy models of the Burgman nameplate to the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
Being featured is the e-Burgman electric scooter prototype, which is based on the 125 cubic-centimeter small displacement city scoot. It offers exchangeable battery-sharing technology from Gachaco.
Meanwhile, a hydrogen-powered Suzuki Burgman is also on display at the Japanese mobility expo. It is based on the expressway-legal Suzuki Burgman 400 and flaunts a 70-megapascal hydrogen tank and hydrogen engine.
Honda SC eConcept
Not to be outdone, Honda is also showcasing the SC e:Concept electric motorbike at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Like the Suzuki e-Burgman, it also uses a swappable battery technology and is powered by two units of Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable power units.
