Ford Philippines is promising the owners of the
Ford EcoSport,
Ford Everest, and
Ford Ranger that the
cost of ownership of its three main vehicles from the
2012 model year and up will
go down by as much as 20 percent come April 2018 as the American carmaker rolls out its, well, new Cost of Ownership for its Scheduled Maintenance Service package.
"We listened to our feedback from our customers and worked with our dealers to improve the cost of scheduled service maintenance," Ford Philippines said in a statement. "Effective April 2018, we are improving the competitiveness of our cost of ownership with
adjustments to the costs of our scheduled service maintenance, parts and labor included."
For the longest time, the general public's perception is that the maintenance cost of Ford vehicles are more expensive compared to other brands. While Ford Philippines Managing Director
Bertrand Lessard admitted that that may be true when you compare the invoices of a Ford vehicle undergoing its scheduled maintenance service to that of a similar vehicle from another car brand, it has to be pointed out that Ford's vehicles only have to do it
twice a year while other brands need to do it twice as much or
four times a year.
"When you compare the invoice for a basic lube and filter, you look at that and you say 'Well, that's a bit more expensive,' that's why we reduced it by 17 percent," Lessard told
Carmudi.com.ph. "But also, which is important, people don't realize that when you buy a Ford, you only have to go
twice a year or
after 10,000 kilometers but with a lot of competitors, which I won't name, you have to go four times. This is a big benefit to our customers and it takes time to change that perception because on a day-to-day basis, you compare the invoices. You don't realize that you only go twice versus four times."
When the new cost of ownership takes effect on April 1, 2018, Ford Philippines sees its customers' savings per visit will improve by
17 percent on average--from P120,000 over five years to P100,00 for the same period--with
further savings of 15 percent on average if a customer avails of a
prepaid scheduled service plan with the purchase of a new Ford vehicle.
Under the new cost of ownership of its scheduled service maintenance, the average cost of maintaining a
Ford Ranger will go down by
15 percent followed by the
Ford Everest at
18 percent and the
Ford EcoSport at
20 percent. According to Lessard, the company focused on these three models because they comprise
90 percent of Ford Philippines' sales, essentially making them
"the heart of the business." Lessard promised though that the company is looking to expand its more affordable cost of ownership program down to the rest of its product lineup in the future.
As to the scope of the new cost of ownership for scheduled service maintenance, besides being done only twice a year, it involves the following components: fully synthetic engine oil (backwards-compatible), oil filter, engine air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, brake fluid, spark plugs, and gasket drain plug.
The best two things about Ford Philippines' adjusted cost of ownership is that the prices
will be maintained across its entire dealership network throughout the country and that it is
transferable if you decide to sell your Ford vehicle later on, thereby improving its
resale value even further.
If you'd like to hear more about Ford Philippines's new cost of ownership for its scheduled service maintenance, the carmaker can personally talk to you about it at the upcoming
2018 Manila International Auto Show which will run from April 5 to 8 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
