3 Awesome Tips to Keep Bugs Off Your Windshield
Car owners who frequent the countryside and open roads know what a nuisance bugs on the windshield can be. Aside from being a filthy sight, they can also be a major distraction that pulls one's attention away from the road. As such, they can be dangerous to keep on the windshield.
Prevention is the best solution, and so if you’re wondering how to keep bugs off from windshield while you’re driving or parked, take note of these three tips.
Install a bug deflector
Bug deflectors are installed at the front of the hood to create a blanket of air that acts as sort of a blowing barrier that sweeps bugs up and over your vehicle. Different bug deflectors have different installation methods—some can be clipped or slid onto the hood, while some use some type of adhesive. Either way, they are easy to install and are very handy to have.
Apply repellent spray
There are aftermarket sprays that you can buy from car accessories stores and use to coat your windshield with bug repellent so that bugs stay away from it. Application is similar to glass cleaners--simply spray your windshield surface with the product, then wipe it dry using a clean, lint-free cloth. No need to rinse it off. Once it dries, you'll be amazed at how it can reduce--if not completely eliminate--the bugs from squishing onto your windshield.
Cover your car when parked
Bugs aren’t just a problem when you’re driving on the road. They can appear on your windshield just as often as when you’re parked. To prevent bugs from frequenting your windshield, use a windshield cover. You can buy a windshield cover from an accessories store, but you can just as easily fashion one out of a tarp, cardboard or cloth.
