Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has officially unveiled to the public the latest-generation City, which was developed under the grand concept of “Ambitious Sedan”.
The launch of the fifth-iteration of Honda’s subcompact sedan was made in line with the local distributor’s 30th anniversary as they continue to tighten its grasp while widening its reach.
First launch back in1996, the Honda City was revealed as exclusive model for the Asian region and has become HCPI’s best-selling model over the years with now over 131,000 units sold.
Powering the All-New City is a new 1.5-Liter 4 Cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine mated to either a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) or six-speed manual transmission. The powertrain is said to provide a maximum output of 119 horsepower and 145 Nm torque.
It also maintains the Honda’s Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and Eco-Coaching Ambient Light to help ensure efficient driving.
Looks and size have also been improved as the fifth-version of the Honda City has grown by 111 mm in length and 54 mm in width compared to its predecessor.
It has also updated its already- athletic appearance with its redesigned front fascia, wearing new chrome front grille and the LED Daytime Running Lights now made available across all variants.
The Katana Blade In Motion-inspired lines at the sides have added character to the All-New Honda City.
For its interior, the All-New City features a spacious cabin with soft pads and polished textures, plus accents. Aside from that, the All-New City now has Push Start System across all variants, Smart Entry Keyless Entry System for 1.5 RS CVT and 1.5 V CVT, and Keyless Entry for 1.5 S CVT and 1.5 S MT variants.
To elevate its design inside and comfort levels, it now wears new Air Conditioning Design with Rotary Knobs, Digital Display & Illumination as well as Rear Ventilation for the 1.5 RS and 1.5 V CVT variants—complementing the adjusted leg and knee room clearance.
Enjoyment-wise, the All-New City is fitted with an eight-inch Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and WebLink, for all Honda City offerings except for manual variety.
Giving its distinct look are the Ivory accents on the 1.5 V CVT and the full black interior for the 1.5 S CVT variant.
For the first time, the All-New Honda City exudes the brand’s sporty DNA with the new RS variant. The RS variant comes with a complete set of sporty upgrades including a High Gloss Black front grille with RS logo emblem, sporty front bumper and grille, full LED Headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED Fog Lights, Sporty Black Power Folding Door Mirror with Integrated Side Turn Signals, Gloss Black Trunk Spoiler with RS logo, and a newly designed sporty 16-inch Alloy Wheels.
Aside from that, it now has a new Remote Engine Start, as well as paddle shifters.
Exclusively for the All-new Honda RS variant is the newly designed leather and suede seat material with Black and Red stitching interior trims, new Sport Pedals, eight speakers, and a Multi-information Display with red illumination.
It is also now equipped with a new Remote Engine Start, which is a first-time feature for the City, while Paddle Shifters are also offered for an engaging driving experience.

For its safety features, the All-New Honda City has Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Power Door Locks with Speed Sensing Auto Lock and six airbags
