Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) is set to dip its hands again in the electrified vehicle arena after officially announcing that it will introduce the sixth-generation CR-V next month.
To be launched on September 13, the latest-version of the CR-V will be the first model in the brand’s current lineup that will have full-hybrid technology (now known as e:HEV).
To note, HCPI already brought hybrid vehicles in the past: the CR-Z in 2009 and Legend in 2013.
HCPI shared that the all-new Honda CR-V will come in three variants: two to remain gasoline-powered while the sole new energy vehicle option to come out as the top-of-the-line trim —dropping the diesel powertrain option that was made available in the outgoing generation.
The top-spec variant the all-new Honda CR-V will have a 2.0-liter gasoline mill with dual electric motors that “achieves outstanding fuel efficiency, substantially reduces emissions, and maintains an exhilarating and dynamic driving experience.”
On the other hand, the gasoline-propelled variations of the sixth-generation Honda CR-V will be turbocharged — making them the first in their lineage to be fitted with such.
Further, the all-new CR-V will also be the first model in the country to be fitted with the Honda CONNECT system that further enhances safety, security, and convenience. Utilizing smart telematics technology, the Honda CONNECT will allow users to have a seamless connection with their cars via a smartphone application for an enhanced ownership experience.
In addition, all variations of the forthcoming model will feature the latest Honda SENSING driver assistive technologies that utilizes a front camera and radar to help detect cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians, and other road users effectively.
Since it is longer and wider, the soon-to-be-unveiled Honda CR-V boasts larger proportions, a significantly broader stance as well as a roomier cabin.
Below are the all-new Honda CR-V variants and their respective prices:
“We are eager to launch the All-new Honda CR-V in the Philippines because this is a major step towards a carbon-neutral future for the next generation. With cumulative sales of over 70,000 units since it came to the Philippines in 1997, I know the Honda CR-V has a special place in the heart of Filipino customers. The all-new model, with the new e:HEV, Honda CONNECT, and Honda SENSING, is yet again how Honda demonstrates our commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment, and to safety for everyone” HCPI President Rie Miyake was quoted as saying.
The Honda CR-V which is known as the “Comfort Runabout Vehicle” made its inception in 1995. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most-loved nameplates of the Japanese automotive marque around the world.
In addition, HCPI said that it is already accepting reservations for the sixth-generation Honda CR-V to enjoy waived fees.
As early as last year, the arrival of the all-new CR-V in the country has been anticipated after spyshots in Thailand spread like wildfire over the web. In an interview at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show, HCPI executives told Carmudi Philippines that aforementioned model will arrive “soon.”
