Mazda Philippines has introduced the latest iteration of its three-row sport utility vehicle (SUV) offering CX-8 at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Now with enhanced styling and new standard features, Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan expressed firm belief that the updated version of the nameplate will captivate more buyers.
“The CX-8’s genuine approach to luxury has made it one of our best performing nameplates. Its elegant design, spacious interior, and unequalled refinement has made it the best-selling three-row crossover above the P2-million mark,” he said.
The new Mazda CX-8’s contemporary yet edgy design is complemented by the redesigned gun metallic front grille with interlocking elements, front bumper chrome garnish, silver 19-inch alloy wheels, large dual tail pipes, and new tailgate badging.
The newly-revealed Mazda CX-8 comes in six- and seven-seater options, depending on the chosen variation. The seats can be adjusted and folded down to accommodate items of different sizes.
Aside from the power adjustable front seats, 10-speaker Bose sound system, and three-zone climate control, the new Mazda CX-8 — which comes in Deep Red Nappa leather seats and Sen Wood interior trimmings — are also fitted with added comfort features such as an electric glass sunroof, a seven-inch LCD instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, two additional USB ports in the third row, and a hands-free power tailgate.
Powering the new Mazda CX-8 is a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine paired to a six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic with manual shift mode and cruise control. The powertrain can deliver as much as 187 horsepower and up to 252Nm of pulling power.
Drivers can control the SUV’s power thanks to its G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC+). The vehicle applies light braking force to the outer wheel when turning, to improve stability during and after cornering or when changing lanes. The human-centered initiative heightens driver confidence, especially during inclement weather or during emergency maneuvers.
Further, the top-of-the-line Mazda CX-8, which has an all-wheel-drive layout, includes off-road traction assist that automatically reduces the engine torque and increases the braking force on the wheels without traction while simultaneously transferring power to the wheels still on the ground.
Moreover, the new Mazda CX-8 is fitted with i-Activsense that has the following the driver assist technologies like that Smart City Brake Support-Forward that automatically applies the brakes when it detects obstacles at speeds of 4-30 kilometers per hour (kph); Smart City Brake Support-Rear that applies when reversing at low speeds (up to 8 kph) when it senses possible obstructions; High Beam Control that switches between high- and low beams for better night time visibility without blinding other drivers; and Driver Attention Alert which notices driver fatigue and drowsiness by monitoring vehicle movement.
The top-tier CX-8 has a Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go function.
Coming as standard features are six airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, dynamic stability control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera with front and rear proximity sensors.
Furthermore, the new Mazda CX-8 – which can be had in seven body colors namely Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray Metallic, Jet Black Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl, along with two new hues Platinum Quartz Metallic and Polymetal Gray Metallic — is available in two variants: the CX-8 2.5L Signature FWD seven-seater (priced at P 2.330 million) and the CX-8 2.5L AWD Exclusive six-seater (offered at P 2.490 million).
Just like the rest of the new Mazda vehicles, the new Mazda CX-8 is bundled with a five-year free service plan inclusive of labor, parts, and lubricants.
