Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) has showcased to visitors of the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) the hybrid version of its seven-seater offering Ertiga.
Signaling its participation in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market locally, the Japanese automotive manufacturer’s arm in the country revealed the aforementioned version of the nameplate after Carmudi Philippines received a tip that the Ertiga hybrid “will be brought within the year or by first quarter of 2023."
Prior to the product display at the 8th PIMS, the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid was released in Indonesia as well as in India early this year.
The Indonesia-spec Suzuki Ertiga hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter K15B engine with mild-hybrid system (Smart Hybrid Technology), an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery pack.
The power mill fitted in the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) — which is matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters — can churn as much as 102 horses and 137Nm of torque).
The smart hybrid system is designed to cut down fuel consumption, thanks to its automatic start/stop, regenerative braking as well as torque assist.
The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid comes with a new front grille flanked with automatic projector headlamps.
The seven-seater offering, currently being displayed at the four-day motor show, are have leather fitments in the seats, steering wheel and shift boot.
Further, the updated iteration of the model wears the highly-rigid yet lightweight Heartect platform.
However, SPH said that the availability of the Suzuki Ertiga hybrid, as well as other details will be announced at a later date.
