Per Porsche, the powertrain setup of the Vision 357 Speedster is based on the Mission R.Where did Porsche unveil the Vision 357 Speedster?
The Porsche Vision 357 Speedster was unveiled at the recentlt-held Goodwood Festival of Speed.According to the German automotive brand, the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster is an open-top concept car based on the 718 GT4 e-Performance.
Hence, it is fitted with electric motors and battery technology that came from the Porsche Mission R. The chassis, on the other hand, is from the 718 GT4 Clubsport.
No performance data was disclosed but if one is going to look at the figures offered by the aforementioned Porsche Mission R, the all-electric performance machine puts out as much as 1,073 horsepower (hp) with a top speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour.
Per the Stuttgart-based brand, the front electric motor of the Mission R makes about 429 horses while its rear motors generate approximately 473hp.
Despite its new, all-electric powertrain setup, the Vision 357 Speedster is undoubtedly a Porsche.
Outside, the concept car dons the iconic Porche silhouette with a squat, shortened windscreen that is typical of a speedster. Further at the fore are four-point light signets, the Porsche crest, a 75th-anniversary logo on the bonnet, and a blue tow strap.
Its side profile is adorned by large 75th-anniversary logos in Grivelo Grey Metallic and Miami Blue, cameras that replace traditional side mirrors, and 20-inch wheels that are made of magnesium and are equipped with carbon fiber hubcaps and central locks.
The rear end of the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster boasts rear lights that sit behind a patterned array of points milled in the body itself and a vertical grille with an integrated third brake lamp.
Inside the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster is a single, low-slung seat with a CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced plastic) seat shell integrated into the monocoque. It is covered in Racetex-covered pads that is held firmly in place by a six-point seat belt with a Miami Blue belt strap.
The instrument cluster sits atop the steering column as a transparent surface. The racing steering wheel exemplifies lightness, while the impact absorber appears as if suspended. The individual controls, meanwhile, revisit the accent color Miami Blue from the exterior.
The entire dashboard is in a carbon-weave finish. As an alternative to a conventional glove compartment, Miami Blue straps in the upper right section can be used to secure accessories. Simple fabric straps replace conventional door handles.
The Porsche Vision 357 Speedster was unveiled at the recently concluded Goodwood Festival of Speed.
“The Porsche Vision 357 is a nod to the first Porsche model line, Ferry Porsche’s dream sports car. And since the 356 has burned itself into the collective brand memory as both a convertible and a coupé, the same logic applies to the concept car: there can only be two. The Porsche Vision 357 Speedster embodies the essence of the brand. Driving pleasure and driving dynamics combined with an extremely purist form. As with the Mission X that we presented just a few weeks ago, this model demonstrates that even with fresh design genes, the Porsche DNA shines through,” commented Porsche Style Vice President Michael Mauer.
