In a recent display of its practical features, the Changan CS35 Plus was eager to showcase its impressive fuel efficiency during a fuel economy run conducted by Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) and the Automobile Association Philippines (APP).
Changan’s subcompact SUV registered 21.432kpl on the highway after it traveled 180.652 kilometers at a speed range of 60 to 85kph.
The highway driving test ran from Shell Balagtas NLEX Northbound to SCTEX Tarlac Terminus, going to Shell of Asia Bulacan, passing through NLEX, to Clark Spur Road, SCTEX, and back.
The Changan CS35 Plus’ fuel efficiency was also tested in city driving conditions where mustered 13.548kpl after it ran for 90.8 kilometers.
The city driving test ran from Makati, Pasay City, Manila, and Quezon City, and back.
What’s more impressive is that Changan used its endurance test unit — which had already logged 107,000 kilometers in its odometer — on the said economy run.
Both the highway and city test runs for the CS35 Plus were done under real-life driving conditions.
That said, certain parameters were set to make sure that the tests were as realistic as possible. These include having the fuel tanks full, having all OEM equipment present, tire pressures set at OEM specifications, A/Cs set to medium cool, two passengers and no extra baggage. The vehicle complied with speed limits and safety regulations, and the radio was turned off, on low volume, or on mute.
