Aside from acquiring the distributorship of BYD (Build Your Dreams) electric vehicles (EV) in the country, AC Motors also revealed that a new nameplate will arrive in the country soon to bolster its new energy vehicle (NEV) roster.
Antonio Zara III — who was hailed as the president of the Ayala-led BYD distributorship named “Mobility Access Philippines” — said that the Atto 3 will be added to its EV portfolio towards the end of the year.
The launch of the forthcoming model will increase the brand’s number of offerings to four. To note, BYD already retails the Han sedan, the Tang seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV), and the Dolphin hatchback.
While the pricing — as well as the other details — of the arriving vehicle has yet to be shared, Zara shared that the newly-acquired marque will have the most accessible lineup in the company portfolio.
While AC Motors’ stable is composed of numerous brands, it is only with Kia (via the EV6) that AC Motors was able to sell NEV.
The soon-to-be-launched Atto 3 is a fully electric crossover from the Chinese automotive marque that is 4,455 millimeters (mm) long; 1,875 mm wide (2,050 if the side mirrors are extended), and 1,615 mm tall with a 2,720-mm wheelbase.
The upcoming model in the Philippines will likely share the same specifications as the version currently available in Singapore.
According to BYD’s arm in Singapore, the front-wheel-drive vehicle is propelled by a permanent magnet synchronous motor powered by a lithium iron phosphate (BYD Blade) battery. The mill can dish out as much as 201 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque. In addition, the aforementioned battery’s capacity is 60.5 kilowatt-hours.
Such combination allows the vehicle to reach 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in as fast as 7.3 seconds or cover up to 565 kilometers based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standards.
Meanwhile, the BYD Atto 3’s front and rear disc brakes assure the vehicle’s stopping power.
Depending on the charger used, the BYD Atto 3 can be fully juiced up in as fast 80 minutes.
Among the exterior features of the Singaporean BYD Atto 3 are the panoramic sunroof, crystal LED combination head- and tail lamps, and 18-inch aerodynamic sport wheels.
Inside the cabin, the BYD Atto 3 is fitted with a five-inch digital cluster, 12.8-inch rotating infotainment display, and leather-covered “gaming seats” for front occupants that can be electronically-adjusted (six-way for driver, four-way front passenger).
Further, the BYD Atto 3 comes with technologies like the NFC keycard smart entry and engine start, vehicle-to-load power supply function, wireless phone charger, along with the drive and regenerative mode selector.
Moreover, the Lion City-retailed model that received a five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program is equipped with a myriad of safety features such as seven airbags, 360-degree around-view monitor, digital video recorder, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, electronic parking braking system, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, hill descent control, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, as well as front and rear collision warning.
