Korean marque's flagship EV to be revealed at 9th PIMS
Kia will introduce EV9 to the Philippine market within the month.
Based on the digital invitation to Carmudi Philippines, the ACMobility-led vehicle distributor will launch “a new model that showcases the brand’s commitment to electrification” at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) set on October 24-27.
Although the company did specifically give the exact name of the offering that will be revealed at the four-day event, the invite stated that “the World Car of the Year is coming soon.”
It was early this year that the Kia EV9 was given the World Car of the Year recognition — surpassing the likes of the BYD Seal (which will also be formally unveiled this October), and Volvo EX30.
Additionally, the vehicle’s fascia seen in the invitation strongly looks like Kia’s flagship electric vehicle.
While waiting for Kia Philippines to share the EV9’s full details, here are some of its probable specifications as seen in markets abroad.
Will the PH-spec carry these features?
Dimension
As seen in its spec sheets in other markets, the Kia EV9 is 5,010 millimeters (mm) long; 1,980 mm wide; and up to 1,780 mm tall with a 3,100-mm wheelbase and around 200-mm ground clearance.
Aside from that, it also has a 20-degree approach and 22.8-degree departure angles — which expresses its off-roading capabilities.
Exterior
Its overall flowing boxy look complements the Digital Tiger Face front fascia that features vertical headlamps and Star Map LED daytime running lights bordering the Digital Pattern Lighting grille.
Abroad, the Kia EV9 sits on 19-, 20-, or 21-inch wheels.
Interior
Interior
The upcoming offering may come in seven- or six-seater options that would go with various second-row seat configurations.
As seen in other countries, the Kia EV9’s front row is fitted with relaxation seats while the second row can be equipped with a three-seater bench, basic-type, relaxation-type, or swivel-type captain chairs.
Performance
Available in rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive variants in other markets, the Kia EV9 can cover 239 kilometers and reach 100 kilometer per hour from rest in as fast as 5.3 seconds.
It is also based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that is incorporated with the brand’s four-generation battery technology.
Amenities
In addition, the Philippine-spec Kia EV9 might have the Integrated Charging Control Unit that allows vehicle-to-load functionality, as well as Level 3 autonomous driving technologies such as 15 sensors (including two lidars).
