ADVISORY: MMDA suspends number coding for 2 days due to 'Florita'
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the suspension of the number coding scheme due to tropical thunderstorm Florita.

MMDA resumed its coding program on August 15.“In view of the suspension of work and classes by Malacañang and due to heavy rains brought by severe tropical storm Florita, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s expanded number coding scheme is suspended today, August 23, and tomorrow, August 24,” MMDA wrote yesterday on their official Facebook page.
MMDA’s abovementioned number coding scheme — also known as the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) — starts from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during weekdays, except on holidays.
Under the program, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and on major thoroughfares along Metro Manila on Mondays. Vehicles whose plate numbers end in 3 and 4 are not allowed on the said roads on Tuesdays while vehicles with plate numbers that end in 5 and 6 are prohibited to pass through major roadways on Wednesdays. Similarly, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 7 and 8 should be cautious not to use the aforementioned roads on Thursdays while those whose plate numbers end in 9 and 0 should do likewise.
Those caught violating the coding scheme will receive a P300 penalty.
According to the agency, public utility vehicles (PUV) including tricycles, transport network vehicle services (TNVS), motorcycles, garbage trucks, fuel trucks, marked government vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, marked media vehicles, as well as motor vehicles carrying essential and/or perishable goods, are exempted from the expanded number coding scheme.
