Alae Bypass Road Connecting Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon Almost 90% Completed
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has already completed 89.8 percent of the ongoing Alae Bypass Road project that will benefit motorists coming from Alae, Bukidnon to Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and vice versa.
DPWH Region X Director Zenaida T. Tan said the project involves the construction of a 10-kilometer new road, improvement of seven-kilometer existing road, construction of three bridges spanning a total of 237 linear meters, with slope protection and drainage system components.
The bypass road will start at Barangay Casinglot, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental passing through sitios Malaiba and Bugna, Barangay Mantibugao and will end at Barangay Alae, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
When completed, the Alae Bypass Road will divert traffic along the busy Sayre Highway, Puerto-Alae Section. It will also serve as an alternate road toward the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan where cargo trucks coming from Bukidnon will be catered directly.
The Alae Bypass Road is part of the proposed Cagayan de Oro Alternate Highway which is being requested for funding for its completion by 2019 and is among the priority projects in the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.
The DPWH has received total amount of PHP1.76 billion for the project. It will require an additional allocation of PHP200 million for its full completion and opening slated November 2019.
