All 2022 Mazda models bag IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award in US

The American arm of Mazda announced in a recent press release that all of the 2022 model year vehicles tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have earned a Top Safety Pick+ award.

These vehicles include the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, and CX-9.

"Achieving the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award is a reflection of Mazda’s commitment to providing advanced safety technologies that our owners expect. Our wide range of safety technologies are designed to support, not replace the driver, which results in a more confident and enjoyable driving experience,” said Mazda North American Operations President and CEO Jeff Guyton.

To earn a Top Safety Pick+ award, the evaluated vehicles must have Good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests; Advanced or Superior rating for available front crash prevention — vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations; and Acceptable or Good headlights.

Mazda’s 2022 vehicles earned Good ratings in each of the Institute’s six crashworthiness evaluations and earned advanced or superior ratings for front crash prevention in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations and either Good or Acceptable headlight ratings.

Other brands with models earning a Top Safety Pick+ award include Honda, Subaru, Kia, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Volvo, Tesla, Audi, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Cadillac, and Mitsubishi.
