Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) took a 75-percent share of the B-segment hatchback market with its all-new City hatchback.
In a statement, HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura said he is happy with the strong sales performance.
“We are truly delighted to see the All-New City Hatchback soar in the hatchback segment since its introduction in the country. Furthermore, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our customers for their continuous support to Honda throughout the years," Nakamura was quoted as saying.
The positive acceptance of the Filipino market of the model means a lot for us and we would like to reaffirm our promise to continuously serve the country with quality products and excellent customer service,” he added.
Since its launch last April, the all-new City already sold 189 units. The local automotive arm of the Japanese manufacturer credited the strong numbers to its versatility.
“Thanks to its Ultra Seats (ULTR), it can easily adapt to a wide variety of the owner’s lifestyle and cargo needs. Notable interior features such as the One Push with Smart Entry and Remote Engine Start System, eight-inch Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio with Apple CarPlay Android Auto and WebLink connectivity also add to the comfort, convenience, and ease of access for the customers,” HCPI noted in its statement.
Aside from that, HCPI claimed that other reasons that drove the model’s sales to the top of the category are a strong brand equity as well as the sporty and stylish exterior RS design.
Further, HCPI stated that the company received positive feedback on the model’s driving capabilities, as well as its power and fuel efficiency.
Powering the all-new Honda City Hatchback is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine that can give up to 119hp and 145 Nm of pulling power. Last May, HCPI and Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) staged a fuel economy run wherein the vehicle yielded a 25kpl rating after covering 73.5 kilometers of highway.
The company said that clients also cited the safety features found on the all-new Honda City Hatchback that led them to buying one.
The All-New Honda City Hatchback has a standard six airbags, G-Force Control (G-CON), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Speed Sensing Auto Door Locks, and Multi-view Rear Camera with guidelines.
The same model scored a five-star rating in the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP).
Available in four colors (Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic), the price for the all-new Honda City Hatchback starts at P1.115 million.
