Kia used recycled materials inside the cabin such as recycled wallpaper, Bio PU, and BTX-free paint. The Kia Niro is expected to appeal to the complex needs of Kia’s sustainability conscious consumers and reinforce the company’s commitment to building a more sustainable future.
“Kia continues to take steps towards a more sustainable future, inviting everyone to join the movement into the new mobility era. The all-new Kia Niro makes it simple to practice a sustainable lifestyle with its eco-friendly materials, advanced technology, and electric powertrains while it also fulfills the practical needs of customers,” said Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song.
As Kia revealed when they shared the Niro’s teaser photos prior to the crossover’s global premiere, the Kia Niro’s design was strongly influenced by the 2019 Habaniro concept. At the front end is a redesigned Tiger Nose flanked by headlamps with striking LED DRLs.
On the other hand, the rear design of Niro blends simple surface treatments with dynamic sections and features a unique vertical taillight design that highlights aerodynamics and technology.
Inside is an off-center dash with horizontal and diagonal lines opposing each other to create a calming yet irregular aesthetic. Its stylish center console features the electronic dial-type shift lever. The audio-visual screen and air vents are incorporated within the diagonal gaps of the modern dash design, while ambient mood lighting heightens the senses and creates a welcoming interior.
To show its commitment to a safer and cleaner means of mobility, Kia introduced the Greenzone Drive Mode in the new Niro. This mode automatically transforms the (P)HEV into EV drive mode to meet the demand for sustainable mobility solutions.
In addition, Kia used recycled materials inside the cabin such as the headlining made from recycled wallpaper, the seats that are made from Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves, and BTX free paint (a water-based paint free from benzene, toluene, and xylene isomers) on the door panels to minimize the impact on the environment and reduce waste.
The all-new Niro will be on display at the Seoul Mobility Show from November 25 to December 5. It will be available with HEV, PHEV, and EV powertrains starting from next year.
