The leadership of Mazda Philippines revealed that the all-new version of their utilitarian pick-up truck, the Mazda BT-50, will be coming to the country next year.
The exciting news, broke by Mazda Philippines President and CEO Steven Tan, followed the online reveal of the Mazda BT-50 4x4 Pangolin, a special edition variant served with a heart for the critically-endangered species locally.
Aside from confirming the local availability, Tan said that he is not at liberty to reveal any more details as of the moment.
Since he already mentioned the coming of the latest version, let’s check the version that was recently introduced—after almost a decade of retaining its previous design.
Looking a lot chunkier, it now looks more Mazda-looking as it now shares the Kodo-Soul of Motion design language—the same pattern seen in its Mazda siblings.
The Mazda BT-50 is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine that delivers 187 horses and 450 Nm, good for a towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms.
It measures 5,280mm long, 1,870mm wide, and 1,790mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125mm. Minimum turning radius is 6.1m, with a top payload of 1,065mm.
Earlier, Carmudi reported that the latest iteration of the BT-50 is based on the 2021 Isuzu D-Max platform.
From what we know so far, we bet you will be as excited as we are in 2021. We just hope Tan’s leadership will bring this sooner.
