The latest iteration of Subaru’s iconic rally-bred compact sports car will make its official debut on August 19 at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
Early in June, Subaru dropped a teaser photo of the all-new 2022 WRX that barely shows the car’s features. It did give us a glimpse of the familiar hood scoop but, other than that, all we could see was the roof and its dramatic backdrop.
Their most recent teaser photo still doesn’t show us a lot, although it did amp up the theatrics. What could be seen amid the shower of sand is the top-side profile of the redesigned WRX sporting a sharkfin antenna. We could be wrong, but if you look past through the specs of blasted dust, you could see an orange finish.
Now, this is something new for the WRX as it typically dons white, black, gray, or blue paint. This could be a sign of what we could expect from the 2022 year model as Subaru might do something unconventional to the WRX.
The teaser photo was released with an accompanying teaser video which you can see here.
We were able to catch black wheel arches, black under-claddings, and a black rear diffuser — stuff you’d see on a crossover rather than a rally racer.
Subaru will be streaming the world premiere of the completely redesigned 2022 WRX live.
