The all-new Toyota Camry has made its way to Thailand. There, the car is offered in three trims and fitted with a hybrid powertrain across the board.
“Definitely, the Toyota Camry has played an important role in Thailand’s midsize-sedan segment. More importantly, the Camry HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) has been the pioneer of electrified vehicles or xEV in Thailand since local production was started in 2009. Since then, Toyota has added the HEV models and developed the ‘ever-better HEVs’ to serve multiple customers’ needs,” Toyota Motor Thailand Limited President Noriaki Yamashita said in a statement.
“I believe that the all-new Camry will bring the pride of ownership with peace of mind thanks to the superior technology of Toyota hybrid. We set a sales target at 10,000 units per year,” he added.
Powering the all-new Toyota Camry in Thailand is a 2.5-liter hybrid engine that can put out some 183 horsepower (hp) with 221 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It is assisted by an electric motor that can deliver up to 134 hp with 208 Nm.
The total overall output of the all-new Toyota Camry’s hybrid powertrain is rated at 227 horses.
Stopping power comes from disc brakes front and back. Its suspension system consists of an independent MacPherson strut at the front and an independent double wishbone setup at the rear.
The all-new Toyota Camry has an updated exterior with a more muscular design.
At the fore is a new grille that now comes with a subtle honeycomb pattern. The LED lights also look new and follow cues from other electrified cars from the brand like the current-generation Prius. Further, the hood also gets a more sculpted look with linear streaks.
The side profile of the all-new Toyota Camry provides design continuity with straight bodylines that give the executive sedan a solid stance. Below the beltline are slanted strokes that make the car look athletic. It rides on 17- or 18-inch wheels, depending on the variant.
Its rear end features a contoured hip that creates a sexy look. The taillights mimic the design of what’s seen at the front and sleek reflectors adorn its bumper.
Inside, the all-new Toyota Camry is swathed with leather appointments, which can be found on its seats, steering wheel, and gear shift boot. Likewise, similar material is applied to its center armrest, dashboard, and door trims.
The driver is presented with a 12.3-inch thin-film transistor multi-information screen with a head-up display. Complementing it is a 12.3-inch infotainment unit with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connected to a nine-speaker JBL sound system.
In addition, Thai market all-new Toyota Camry also gets other notable features like power seats, a wireless charger, and an automatic air conditioning system.
Toyota’s local arm is yet to announce the arrival of the all-new Toyota Camry here in the country.
On offer is the midsize luxury sedan (offered in a sole V HEV variant) that — although packed with a similar 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain — produces only 208 horses with 221 Nm of pulling power.
It is priced at P2.442 million.
