Mazda North America has updated its best-selling vehicle in the US, the CX-5. Chief among these updates is the standard i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) across the CX-5 range.
Mazda’s i-Activ AWD continuously monitors weight transfer, based on acceleration and cornering forces, and shifts power to the appropriate wheels. By sharpening turn-in response and control, the i-Activ AWD system enhances the CX-5's handling while also providing additional safety in various road conditions.
Refreshed exterior styling also comes with the new CX-5. Mazda designers minimized some character lines, in favor of reflective body surfaces that create a cleaner appearance.
The front fascia adopts a new signature wing that extends outward from the grille, which is also updated with a three-dimensional texture that replaces the outgoing mesh surface. The headlights and taillights receive a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights. All-new alloy wheels aim for an elegant appeal.
For the CX-5 2.5 Turbo, its exterior features gloss black finishes for an athletic look, while the interior wears red accents and stitching. As for the CX-5 2.5 Turbo Signature model, its exterior cladding is made the same color as the body, while its interior carries premium materials such as Nappa leather and genuine woodgrain.
The CX-5's drive modes, and improved seats, body, and suspension damping also promise to enhance the ride and drive.
