“In addition to the difficulties posed by the resurgence of the COVID pandemic in China and other markets, ongoing supply-chain- and logistics-related challenges have accompanied us. At the same time, the desirability of our brand and popularity of our products remains strong. We expect the second half-year to be dynamic. As in previous years, we are optimistic about the future and determined to go full steam ahead with the remaining months of the year,” he added.
Porsche sales in Europe went up by seven-percent, retailing 43,087 examples in the January-June 2022 period in comparison to the 40,435 units sold over the timeline last year.
Further, the automaker rolled out 62,245 of its vehicles to buyers in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Middle East market full six months of the year — a 10-percent slide against the 69,198 units that were delivered to clients. The bulk of the numbers came from China wherein 40,681 vehicles were handed over to clients amid the lockdowns in some cities.
Porsche in America also suffered an eight-percent drop — selling 40,528 vehicles first six months of 2022 versus the 44,023 units delivered for the same period the previous year.
The main sales driver for the brand is the Cayenne, retailing 41,947 examples, followed by the Macan with 38,039 purchased units. The Porsche 911 had 21,616 units sold while the Taycan — despite the production limitations —retailed 18,877 units around the world.
“We are heading into the third quarter full of energy and optimism and, in addition to deliveries, we continue to focus on unique brand experiences for our customers,” von Platen concluded.
