Astara gets JMC distributorship in PH

JMC now shares one roof with Peugeot, GAC Motor in the country

Astara - JMC

Astara has taken over the distributorship of Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) vehicles in the Philippines after being appointed as the brand's exclusive importer of vehicles, parts, and services locally.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What covers the deal between Astara and JMC for the Philippines?

The agreement led to Astara taking over the distributorship of JMC vehicles, parts, and services for the local market.
  • What is Astara's objective following the said development?

Astara's goal is to solidify its presence in the Southeast Asian market.
  • The latest development has led to the global mobility marque’s local arm carrying three brands under its belt — the other two being Peugeot and another Chinese brand, GAC Motor.

The collaboration between the two is not entirely new as Astara has been doing business with JMC since 2019, operating in Chile, Bolivia and Colombia.

According to Astara, its local distribution of JMC vehicles forms part of its strategic expansion in Southeast Asia, which started in 2021. The company also noted that its main objective is to create a solid dealer network, achieve leadership in the pick- up segment, and implement effective strategies to promote and strengthen the brand’s image and products.

“At Astara we are honored to include JMC in our distribution activities in The Philippines. This leading brand stands as a great asset to our portfolio in the Philippines, aligning perfectly with astara’s vision for the future of mobility. Our successful representation of the brand in other countries demonstrates our ability to serve its loyal customers, dealer network, and business partners,” Astara Chief Executive Officer Jorge Navea said.

On the other hand, Jiangxi Jiangling Motors Import and Export Company President Suen Xiaoquan echoed Navea’s sentiments toward the partnership.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Astara in the pickup vehicle market. Together, we will offer more choices, better options, and exceptional customer service, all designed to meet the evolving needs of the market and exceed the expectations of Philippine consumers,” the brand’s top executive vowed.

In an interview last year, Astara Philippines Managing Director Raoul Picello  already expressed the possibility of bringing in more brands to the country if there is a “clear demand that needs to be met.”
