Aston Martin announced that the DBX707 super sport utility vehicle (SUV) has now taken the role of Official Medical Car for the 2023 Formula 1 season.
For the Aston Martin DBX707 to perform its tasks on the race track, it has been fitted with fire extinguishers, medical bags, a defibrillator, and Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)-approved racing seats with six-point racing harnesses.
Occupants of the Official Medical Car will also have access to communications from Race Control and will be able to see the FIA Marshalling system, the biometric data from the F1 drivers, and live television images.
Further upgrades to the Aston Martin DBX707 SUV include a new wet clutch transmission, an improved launch capability called “Race Start,” and role-specific Pirelli P Zero tires.
The new Formula 1 Official Medical Car can zoom from a standstill to about 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.1 seconds, thanks to the 697-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That said, the medical crew can quickly get where they need to be.
“DBX707 is the perfect vehicle for the critical role as an Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, providing the performance and punch required for the world’s greatest racing circuits, in addition to the flexibility and space required by the sport’s officials and medics. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Formula 1 and the FIA this season, with the pinnacle of motorsport a perfect environment for Aston Martin to showcase the capabilities of our ultra-luxury high-performance cars. With the eyes of the world on our products, there is pressure to perform, but that intensity pushes us to constantly improve. Seeing our cars used in an official capacity at such prestigious events is something that everyone at Aston Martin is very proud of,” said Aston Martin Chief Technology Officer Roberto Fedeli.

It’s definitely going to allow the Medical Car team to fully focus on the job and respond quickly and safely during any on-track deployments. It’s great to be heading into a new season well-prepared and well-equipped,” commented van der Merwe.

Filipino Formula 1 fans will most likely see an Aston Martin DBX707 — albeit without the FIA-approved appointments — on our roads anytime soon. That's because Aston Martin Manila recently brought the super SUV to Philippine shores.
