Aston Martin’s Ultimate Flagship the DBS Returns
Aston Martin announces the return of the DBS, bringing back an iconic name from its rich and storied history. First coined for the classic 1967 model designed by William Towns, the DBS nameplate has been a significant release playing a significant role in the brand's heritage for over 50 years. Aston Martin's ardent followers will be familiar with DBS, as it was the name of Aston Martin's range-topping model from 2008 to 2012.
The resurrection of the DBS will be accompanied by the return of the famous Touring mark, the Superleggera. Lamborghini fans will remember it because of the Gallardo Superleggera released back in 2007, but Aston Martin was the first to use the plate back in 1959. The name pays homage to Touring's historic ultra-lightweight construction while providing a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming model.
"When you hear the name DBS Superleggera, you know what it is," Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman said in a press release. "We’ve pushed the boundaries of performance and design to give this car a distinct character and ensure it's worthy of the heritage and weight that this name carries."
The DBS Superleggera will replace the Vanquish, which will soon be out of production due to the British brand's Second Century Plan. As its new flagship model, the DBS Superleggera will feature the highest levels of design, craftsmanship and performance. Aston Martin will reveal further details about the highly anticipated supercar sometime during the second quarter of the year.
