Audi Sport has secured its seventh manufacturer’s title in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) race series.
The ABT Sportsline, Team Rosberg, and Attempto Racing customer teams under the marque delivered remarkable results at the Hockenheim circuit with the aid of the Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3 race car. The brand finished in the top three places among 34 drivers and 17 teams.
Aside from the latest victory, Audi has emerged as the best manufacturer in the DTM in 2004, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
According to Audi Philippines, the Audi Sport R8 LMS is considered one of the most successful GT3 race cars, winning nearly 90 drivers’ titles and more than 100 championships around the world. “To ensure its success continues, Audi Sport has continuously updated the race car so it becomes even more specifically tailored to the requirements of private customer teams,” the company shared.
For the latest version, the Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3 sports improved aerodynamics with its new rear wing and optimized suspension, thanks to its four-way adjustable dampers, and traction control system.
The race car's engine — which has the capability to produce as much as 585 horsepower (depending on a race series’ regulations) — now comes with a new intake system with improved torque characteristics.
Aside from DTM, the Audi Sport R8 LMS GT3 is also being utilized in the GT World Challenge in America, Europe and Australia; the ADAC GT Masters; and endurance races such as the 24 hours of Spa and Nurburgring.
“Audi Sport provides customer teams with support through its international network of service and parts distribution, as well as technical expertise. At major international events, Audi Sport is always present with advisors from Germany,” the firm noted.
